Eminem Buys NFT

Outside of the growing sports and television celebrities eagerly snatching up their own unique (and resulting luxury-valued) NFT’s, Eminem is the newest notoriously famed rapper (alongside Snoop Dog), joining the blockchain party.

Eminem is arguably one of the best rappers in the world. He is highly rated for his fast manner of rapping and his lyrics, eventually earning him 15 Grammy wins. Aside from winning numerous Grammy awards, the rapper is a recipient of many other awards, making him a well-celebrated artist and loved by many music fans worldwide. The question many are asking about the rapper now is why the American rap star is interested in NFTs?

Recently, it was reported that Eminem, whose real name is Marshall Mathers, bought BAYC #9055, an NFT worth $452,000. This means that the popular American rapper bought a Bored Ape NFT for almost half a million US dollars. With the acquisition of BAYC #9055, Eminem will be joining the Bored Ape Yacht Club. According to research conducted on OpenSea, the NFT marketplace where the transaction took place, it is important to add that BAYC #9055 is owned by “Shady Holdings,” which has a portfolio that encompasses other NFTs.

What kind of NFT Did Eminem Purchase?

The digital artwork is an ape-like picture that looks like Eminem. Interestingly, the artwork is now referred to as “EminApe.” Following the acquisition of the artwork, Eminem used it as his profile picture on Twitter. Grandpa Ape Yacht Club created the NFT, and the sale was acknowledged by a certain GeeGazza, who sold the artwork and tweeted about the transaction. In his tweet, GeeGazza appreciated Eminem by tweeting that “I’m living in a simulation… Let me write a lyric in your next single.”

It is noteworthy that this is not the first time Eminem is showing interest in blockchain technology. For instance, the word “bitcoin” was used in his song “Not Alike,” where he rapped that “remember everybody used to bite Nickel, now everybody doing Bitcoin.” Also, in August 2021, the rapper invested alongside Paul Rosenberg and other venture capitalists in Makersplace, a marketplace where NFTs are traded.

It is best believed that the award-winning rapper will keep making more investments in the blockchain technology sector.
